Matt Sims
I was saddened to hear today that one of our former Scouts and Jack Petchey Award Winner Matt Sims has passed away. Matt had been fighting Leukaemia for some time. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Matt was a very popular, fun and out going scout and he will be missed greatly. Please ensure there are leaders before you leave your young person
I was with the Beavers at the Museum tonight and when I arrived at the hall I was informed that when the first Leader arrived at 6.35 there were a lot of cubs running around and just a few parents. Unfortunately it is the nature of the cub leadership that all the leaders can’t commit weekly and Neil (Akela ) often gets stuck in traffic. Most weeks I can cover if Neil is late but clearly weeks like tonight could happen. If anyone could come forward and offer Neil help on a regular basis this would be appreciated. Gliding update

AGM – 17 June 2011 – revised
Friday the 17th June will be the group AGM. This will affect the sections as follows. Beavers will meet at the normal time. They are at Bocking church this week. Beavers are then invited to join the Cubs in bases being run by the Scouts at Tabor. Parents are asked to attend the AGM while this is happening. All Sections at Hall on 6th May – Also Subs Reminder
All three sections return after the Easter and Bank Holiday breaks and will be based in activities at the hall. Scouts attending the Belchamps camp need to read here. Please note it is a new term and Subs are now payable for those that are not on Standing Order yet. Gift Aid – Help the group claim £1000 a year!
The group has not made a Gift Aid claim since tax year 2007/2008. This is a very valuable source of fund raising for us. It means that was can claim back the tax paid on a subscriptions paid to the group. Looking through my current collection of Gift Aid forms I am aware some people have had extra children join the group and a lot of parents haven’t filled in a gift aid form. Printing Google Documents
I have noticed lots of people are not seeming to understand what is going on when trying to print google documents so he is an example with Screen prints. If it does not help you please let Jon know preferably on the phone so he can discover what is going on. Suppose you want to print the scout program (why would you it constantly changes but never mind) Click on the File and then print. Next you will get the print settings options up. Note for your Diaries
We have been informed by the School that the Hall is required between 6 and 8 on February 11th. While Scouts could technically use the hall we feel the disco would likely run into that time. We are therefore looking at options for running events away from the hall. Please be aware though that we won’t be at the hall on that night.
