Cubs and Scouts on the 6th. Beavers the 13th.

Happy new year to all. We hope you had a good break. Cubs and Scouts will be starting back this week (6th) and Beavers 1 week later (13th) due to lack of leaders. With no Beavers it is vital to Cub Parents stay and keep an eye on cubs until leaders are there and ready to take over. Prior to the last session of last year a cub was injured and needed to go to hospital. If Leaders are late, as can often be the case with Cubs, we don’t want any more injuries. We understand the cubs like to run around however we have to consider safety first. Permanent link to this post (110 words, estimated 26 secs reading time) … Read entire article »

Equipment night – Cubs, Scouts and Parents.

It was noticed on the Christmas Camp that many Scouts don’t have suitable equipment for hiking etc. So instead of the night hike on December 2nd the Scouts session will be on what to look for in equipment and why it is essential when we are out and about. This session is open to Cubs and Scouts and we hope Parents will come along too. Our Scout group is very active and to ensure we can run events we need the Scouts to have certain basics. This is your chance to understand what is expected and how to save money buying the correct equipment. Permanent link to this post (105 words, estimated 25 secs reading time) … Read entire article »

Remembrance Parade – Sunday 13th November 2011 – Scouts not on camp should attend!

As usual the Braintree district has been invited by the Royal British Legion, Braintree and Bocking Branch to attend the annual Remembrance Service in the Public Gardens, Bocking End, Braintree. The Scouts are away on camp and will cover Remembrance within the camp. Any Scouts not attending camp are requested to make all efforts to attend the service in Braintree. I will be attending the Braintree service and so will the Beavers and Cubs. It would be appreciated if any Cub parents could attend as Akela is the only Cub leader available at present. Please ensure there are leaders before you leave your young person

I was with the Beavers at the Museum tonight and when I arrived at the hall I was informed that when the first Leader arrived at 6.35 there were a lot of cubs running around and just a few parents. Unfortunately it is the nature of the cub leadership that all the leaders can’t commit weekly and Neil (Akela ) often gets stuck in traffic. Most weeks I can cover if Neil is late but clearly weeks like tonight could happen. If anyone could come forward and offer Neil help on a regular basis this would be appreciated. Cubs would benefit if a 2nd leader can support Neil weekly Permanent link to this post (110 words, estimated 26 secs reading time) … Read entire article »
